The thing I like about tumblr is when you like/reblog a bunch of pictures with no sources and you realise they're all from the same artist. This is exactly what happened when I discovered Duane Michals. I have to say I know next to nothing about photography. There are so many talents and genres, I've always found it a bit overwhelming. Also, I think among all types of art, it is the most subjective. Sometimes, it is confusing to differentiate the luck from the skills, or vice versa (not that it matters in the end).
it isn't surprising I am attracted by Duane Michals's surrealistic sensibilities as he names Rene Magritte and Lewis Carroll among his influences. The thing I love the most about his pictures are his little captions he writes for some of them, building a whole story around one fleeting image.
