in London: Horniman museum & gardens

skeleton reflectionmoths One day, we decided to venture out of the borough of Hackney and use the good ol' Overground. Am I being crazy saying I'm in love with the London transport system? It can be hell during peak hours (I nearly had a stroke one morning on the tube) but overall, I just love everything about it, even the smell of the tube halls (I know, I'm gross!).
We made our way to South London, in the lovely borough of Lewisham, more precisely in the aptly-named Forest Hill. This little trip was prompted by this post on Junkaholique about the Horniman Museum. Artemis' atmospheric pictures made me feel that it would be my kind of place.
And it totally was, give me some creepy stuffed animals and I'm buzzing! I also liked the fact that the museum is surrounded by a beautiful garden (from which you can see an impressive view of the London skyline), it felt great lounging about during that amazing, sunny day.
The only blackspot on this memorable day was that I really wanted to see the museum's mascot, the giant overstuffed Walrus, but the fecker had moved to Margate for Summer. @Dulcie: oh lucky you, it looked like a really lovely area! do you know junkaholique's blog? it is (or used to be, not sure) based in lewisham, that's how i found out about the horniman museum - http://www.junkaholique.com/ - there might be other places of interest to you on there.
Hope you'll make a blogpost of your visit, would be really cool to see it through your lens (especially if the walrus is back :D) xx
